
Clair Daisetsu Helsel

Clair Daisetsu Helsel is a Hoshi (assistant teacher) in the White Plum lineage and a Soto Zen priest. He came to Red Rose Sangha in 2012 in search of a meditation practice. With Red Rose Sangha, he found that, as well as a community. He took Jukai in 2017 and in 2019 became Shuso. In December 2021, Daisetsu was made a Hoshi by Sangetsu Sullivan Roshi. In May of 2022, he took Shukke Tokudo and Denkai in 2024, thus becoming a fully ordained senior priest by Sangetsu Roshi. Daisetsu’s hobbies include cooking and woodworking.

Laura Kaigetsu Eldred

Laura Kaigetsu Eldred is a Hoshi (assistant teacher) in the White Plum lineage and a Soto Zen priest. She began a formal meditation practice in 2015 and began sitting with Red Rose Sangha in 2016. She took Jukai in December 2017, served as Shuso in 2021, became a dharma holder in December 2021, and received Shukke Tokudo in 2022 and Denkai in 2024 from Sangetsu Sullivan Roshi thereby becoming a fully ordained senior priest. She has a doctoral degree in literature from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2007) and a certificate from Cornell in conflict mediation. She enjoys hiking, spending time with Sangha friends and colleagues, and watching horror movies. Kaigetsu works to support Red Rose Sangha as an inclusive and diverse community of Zen practitioners who also pursue social justice initiatives in the community.

EvAnn Seido Hawley

EvAnn Seido Hawley is a Zen Dharma Holder in the lineage of the White Plum Asanga under the auspices of the Red Rose Sangha of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She has been a student of Roshi Ed Sangetsu Sullivan since 2007. She received Jukai in 2009 and was given the title of Hoshi (Assistant Teacher) in 2025. She is the founder of Clear Stream Sangha in Camp Hill, PA. and teaches meditation at the Fredricksen Library.
Seido has been a professional accordionist and pianist, an occupational therapist, and is now a music teacher. She loves to spend time just being with her husband, Rick and two grown sons, Moe and Nick.

Jennifer Getsuki Rittenhouse

Jennifer Getsuki Rittenhouse is a Hoshi (assistant teacher) in the White Plum lineage and a native of Lancaster, PA, where she’s deeply grateful to be part of a warm and supportive Sangha family so close to home. She began practicing with Red Rose Sangha in the spring of 2016, took Jukai in December 2017, and served as Shuso (Senior Student) in the summer of 2022. In March 2026, she became a Dharma Holder, continuing her commitment to practice and service. She holds degrees in Psychology and Physics from Millersville University and has worked with children and young adults in various education systems. Outside the zendo, she loves singing and playing music, writing, yoga, hiking, and spending time with Sangha friends. Getsuki has been honored to help Red Rose Sangha grow from a small local group centered on meditation into a more engaged community, guided by the Zen Peacemaker Tenets. It has been an honor to continue to work with the sangha to alleviate suffering and support social justice for those of every race, creed, ethnicity, income level, and those who identify as LGBTQIA+ or live with physical, intellectual, and neurocognitive differences.
